Where is Fred in 'Ragnarok M: Eternal Love?'

Where is Fred in Ragnarok M: Eternal Love?

Welcome to our first ever "Questions 101" post. In this series, we'll be tackling questions that repeatedly pop up in the world chat about NPC locations, mob drops, quest points and anything under the sun really.

While there may be people who actually do read the flavor text (read: NPC dialogues) to get clues and ideas about the next point in their quest line, some often skip all of that text and mostly just want to get the quest done and over with. This usually leads to them running around maps looking tirelessly for their next quest objective. It may work for most quests but some others require a bit more attention than just mindlessly running around. Also, that's just an absolute waste of time and makes Ragnarok dull and gray.
I enjoy reading the flavor text as it gives colors and life to each and every NPC, location and mob in the game and why the hell I'm killing stuff in the first place or why monsters are everywhere. ;)

Questions 101 will be a niche dedicated to players who:

  • use search engines to look for answers but find none;
  • players who end up getting redirected to sites that list everything but the answer they are looking for;
  • skip all the flavor text and end up getting confused;
  • don't understand the game mechanics despite reaching higher levels (think of Ragnarok Mobile quests as subtle tutorials that slowly teach the player about game mechanics);
  • and lastly, for players who like to be prepared.

Without further ado, let's get down to brass tacks.

Question: Where is Fred in Ragnarok Mobile?

Fred is located in all major towns (I'm assuming "all major towns" as I haven't unlocked the other towns in later content) in the world of Rune-Midgard and at the South Gate of Prontera as well. These include the towns of Prontera, Geffen, Morocc and Payon, and again, South Gate. As I am still at level 60, only the first four towns and South Gate are listed below as I assume by around this level, people will already know where Fred is (I hope).

Additional Info:

Fred (or the Minstrel Shop/Minstrel Toy Merchant/Amazing Toys) is an NPC that sells various items mostly used for playing pranks on other players, letting the player disguise themselves or any random thing really just for the fun (and heck) of it. Some of his items are also important since they are usually required by Minstrel Quests (or Bard Quests) to unlock the next quest objective, required by Guild Quests for guild contribution and is also used in the Goblin* quest to bring out star goblins. There may be other quests too that require buying from him hence why people keep asking about his whereabouts.

A few of Fred's items will be locked at the start and must be unlocked through Minstrel or Bard quests (or those quests that require players to kill 300 mobs). Additionally, Bard quests are also used to unlock item blueprints or crafting recipes in the Crafting NPC (to gear up your character).

A list of items that Fred sells are as follows (for Ctrl+F readers ;)):
I-like-you 500z
Magic Trick Wand - Poring 500z
Magic Trick Wand - Marin 1000z
Disguising Scroll 2000z
Dumber Laser Gun 3000z
Ga Ga Ga! 2000z
Eva 4000z
Absolute Field (not unlocked yet for me =)))

Notes:

  • Dumber Laser Gun is what you use to get that Goblin* (Goblin Star).
    1. Find a talking Goblin in the Goblin Fields, randomly generated but higher chances around the Ferris Wheel (ie. that big glowing thing in the middle). They'll have talk bubbles above their head (use "Nearby" chat window to make it easier. Tough luck if everyone's grinding here though. ):)
    2. Use the Dumber Laser Gun on the talking goblin. To make this easier, open your bag, and at the bottom right of the screen, you'll see an arrow pointing to the left. Click this and it'll bring up your quick access slots. Long press on the Dumber Laser Gun in your inventory and then drag it onto an empty slot. Congrats, you can now easily access the gun.
    3. If the goblin increases in size, use the Dumber Laser Gun again and it will turn into a Goblin*. If the goblin decreases in size, kill it and look for another talking goblin. You need the goblin to increase in size to successfully summon a Goblin*.

  • Ga Ga Ga! summons a band of Rockers to play music for you.
  • Eva summons Eva, an NPC you hold hands with for a limited time.
